I have 3 profiles running:
-Turn airplane mode on at night
-Turn wifi on when screen on
-turn wifi off when screen off
Yet Tasker is waking up my phone an awful lot (26 times in last 40 minutes)

I'm following the XDA $30 Tmobile guide (same as the one on here) to program tasker for automating airplane mode when connected to WIFI but am running into some problem with Tasker. From what I can tell, my N4 goes into airplane mode (airplane icon on upper right screen shows up) when I'm connected to WIFI.
I just got a referb phone because the old one had some audio "pop" issues. But even that phone would turn on at 9pm, 12am, 6am. but then just go back to sleep. Annoying, but not a huge deal. But the referb has some issue that when that happens it will not turn the screen back off. Woke up around 5 am and the screen was on and phone very hot.
I'm running JellyTime on my Inspire and really loving it. Google Now is pretty cool, but the wifi thing is bugging me. I understand why GN wants wifi on all the time, but the Inspire doesn't have the best battery and I don't want to leave wifi on.
I'm thinking of using Tasker to turn wifi on for 5 or 10 minutes every hour, so GN can triangulate but not kill my battery.
Before I had my MAXX, I had a Galaxy Nexus. I used tasker to turn on my hotspot when in the car so my tablet (gps) would have data. It was all automated and working quite well. Now that I have upgraded to the MAXX, I'm having difficulty figuring out how to get this automation. Has anyone had any success with tasker, or another app?
I'm just wondering if the airplane mode on my android phone is only a fake. I've been trying for weeks to turn on and off the airplane mode of my phone but it never becomes an airplane, nor even show me a wheel, a wing or any other stuff that belongs to a plane.
WHY? WHY? Who can tell me WHY? Will your phone become a plane if you turn on the airplane mode?
I was wondering if there was a way to create a widget with tasker that disables certain profiles. I ask this because when I travel I use my phone for maps and spotify. The instant I change from maps to spotify tasker tends to kill my gps. I also have a tasker profile to run greenify every so often.
