System hangs during reboot at eth0

My Linux box on Azure often experiences a blocking problem: it stops responding and if I'm so lucky to be already in SSH I get that the file system has been mounted into readonly mode. The only solution seems to reboot the machine from Azure VM Control Panel, since issuing init 6 returns that it's impossible to write to disk.

What make you think many people are paying for such services? I suspect most experienced sysadmins would rather do the job using the distro-supplied GUI tools, or often just the "old fashione... [by pschaff]

Not able to wake up my system after sleep. It just hangs , its neither taking input from key-board nor from mouse.

Even when i tries to make system sleep by ctrl + alt + l, system hangs. In both cases all that i can do is to forcefully shutdown system and reboot.

Hi illusionist :)While I actually am able to hibernate and wakeup the system on which I tested this method using Xfce built-in options without problem, I was looking for a way to do the same from the console (ssh, that is) so many thanks for posting this guide and updating the wiki article.
