I am trying to setup an sftp server and I am having issues getting it to work exactly as I like.
My server has two hard drives, the first is used for the os, and it contains all of the users home directories.
Hi there
I seen on the Ubuntu website that there is a server edition. This is good because I wan to install Ubuntu on a server: specifically this server, "Dell 2950 Twin Quad Core 2.66Ghz 16GB RAM SATA/SAS RAID PowerEdge Server VMware".
However I have three questions that I could not find the answers to.
Hi, we currently have 2 cPanel servers running approx. 100 individual accounts. We would like to setup a 3rd server which will act as a email server for all accounts on the 2 servers.
1- Has anybody done this...Is this possible?
2- Will users still be able to manage their email accounts from their individual cPanel?
Thanks in advance
What is the best way to sync multiple user accounts and home directory's over multiple servers, they will all be the same OS. The servers are in different locations around the world, so if one goes down the others are still available. at the moment there are users on one server but if that server goes down there is no way, other than re-creating users and rsyncing the dirs over.
Hello I installed Ubuntu Server 12.04 on my machine and installed different apps like ejabberd(instant messaging server), openswan(vpn), davical(carddav, caldav). Is there a way to have centralized authentication to each app instead of creating new users within each of them. I plan to make users accounts for my friends so they can use it.

I'm attempting to setup OpenSSH on Ubuntu 12.04 to allow the following

I need freelancers to be able to download and upload files to some of my websites on my Ubuntu server, but not all.
How do I set it up so that each freelancer is a user who has access to only the sites that they should be able to access and nothing else?
I've followed the instructions I found to set up ftp users with access to particular folders via bind.
