synaptics/synclient RBCornerButton=3 doesn't work, why?

http://askubuntu.com – when i set "synclient RBCornerButton=3" it doesn't work. i've checked with "synclient -l" if it's set and it looks ok. what i want is to get right mouse button when i click in right/bottom touchpad area. any ideas? (HowTos)

Hi,first post on the forums! So here goes: I am unable to enable multitouch for my laptop's touchpad. I am sure that it works since it is working OOTB on most other distros. I searched through the forums, and I have tried adding synclient lines to my openbox autostart.sh, as well as various options into my 50-synaptics.conf file, but to no avail.

I cannot get horizontal scrolling to remain enabled after a shutdown/reboot. I have to run synclient HorizEdgeScroll=1 every time I log in. I've added it to my autostart.sh but no dice.## Detect and configure touchpad.

You should really read the synaptics man page.  It has every configuration available to you.  I think it is better to learn about what you are doing rather than just blindly copy/pasting configurations from other people.  Otherwise, why did you choose a DIY distribution?Just know that the variables in the synaptics man page can either be set using the configuration you already know

I have Xubuntu 12.04 and a synaptics touchpad on a Acer laptop. I'm trying to disable the paste shortcut (tap in top right corner) when Xubuntu starts. synclient RTCornerButton=0 disables it, but doesn't work when running at startup.

I tried: - synclient RTCornerButton=0 in Applications>Settings>Settings Manager>Autostarted apps - bash -c "synclient RTCornerButton=0" in A
