Symlink problem with Firefox bookmarks

view story

http://www.linuxquestions.org – I've asked this on the Mozillazine forums, but no one seems to have any suggestions; maybe someone here can help. I using two operating systems - Debian Wheezy and Squeeze - both running Firefox 23. I make the bookmarks available to both Firefoxes by replacing places.sqlite with a symlink pointing to a file in a common directory. This works fine except in one detail - I cannot bookmark any YouTube page. I don't even get the 'save bookmark' dialogue. YouTube pages also don't appear in History. As far as I can tell, YouTube is the only site affected - all other sites I visit seem to appear in (HowTos)
