Running 9.10 on a dell inspiron e1705. It has an ati x1400 and I am using the built in radeon driver. Laptop suspends and resumes almost flawlessly (screen is dim on resume, but keyboard hotkey works to increase it).
Hey there,
I have opensuse 11.2 and sometimes my computer hangs for a while before suspend, shutdown or reboot. It doesn't output any sort of error, but if I switch to tty1 it says something about creating too many forks and the kernel being confused...
Anyone has any idea why this is happening?
Thanks :)
Hi,
Sorry for my english first.
I just install Ubuntu 12.04 on my new laptop Acer Aspire v5-571 and everything works fine, only one problem.. when i want to shutdown my laptop reboot instead of shutdown.
I install laptop mode tools package and now i can shutdown laptop but only when is connected on ac power, when is on battery still reboot instead of shutdown.
I need help with this.
Thanks.
Sometimes when I close my laptop lib, it doesn't go into sleep mode. The wireless network is disconnected, but it seems to get stuck before turning off the screen, harddrive, etc. Clicking suspend from the menu then has no effect, I assume because it's already trying to suspend.
is it just me, or are there problems with power management in 11.04 recently? I'm having trouble with shutdown and reboot (from menu) and also with suspend. shutdown/reboot just goes to a black screen sometimes and I have to hard reset b/c nothing else does anything. Suspend suspends, but sometimes resumes to a text
I've installed Ubuntu 12.04 (near windows 7) on my laptop(Dell studio xps 1640 with Ati Radeon HD 3670) and everything is working fine, but when I want to shutdown my computer it freezes!
I don't know what to do after that, then I have to use power button to power off the computer and it's not good at all.
I recently updated my kernel to 3.2.8-1 and, if I shutdown or restart, it halts without actually shutting down or restarting my computer.
My system is Hanging at Shutdown/reboot after I installed ATI Catalyst Driver, it freezes on splash screen (Ubuntu logo with the animated dots),I have to do a hard power off on every time I want to shutdown or reboot, how I can fix that? thanks.
I would like to do that using the command-line, because sometimes my computer freezes and I need to force a shutdown (I know it's not good to the hardware).
