Im new to Ubuntu system and I have a problem with graphic card driver installation.
I have ATI Radeon 9600 card (I know its old :) ) and I downloaded ATI Catalyst drivers:
ati-driver-installer-9-3-x86.x86_64.run
I run it in Terminal where I got this error message:

HeyI tried today to install ati drivers to my fresh crunchbang install.Drivers install with success and linux boot up with no fail, but there is no fglrx driver working at all.I tried Ati drivers v 12.11 and v.11.10.My graphic card is HD545vAlso it won't me to install fglrx-driver from synaptic because of need xorg-video-abi-6.0I have no idea what how to fix it, maybe any1 able to help
I bought HP 2016tx. I want to install AMD 7670m graphics card drivers. I tried installing amd-driver-installer-12-4-x86.x86_64.run. But when I run aticonfig, I get an error that "No supported drivers are detected". What is the correct driver to be installed and how it needs to be installed.
I'm currently using a laptop with an AMD 6490M card. There doesn't seem to be drivers for this card. I tried several ones of them (also some suggested in a topic I opened here 1 month ago).
I have an ati HD4850 card, ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS.
To begin with, after a fresh install, i installed fglrx drvers from system -- additional drivers, according to fglrxifo everything was alright, but the system was running on vesa:sem.

I have the ATI (AMD) HD7870 graphic card and I had just installed Ubuntu. With the Open Source drivers the desktop works fine; however, since I have a newer card, I'd like the proprietary drivers installed.
However, whenever I install it either from Additional Drivers, or from the AMD's website, I am able to log in, but then compiz immediately crashes and all I see is my desktop background.

I wasn't able to run this command:-
sudo sh /usr/share/ati/fglrx-uninstall.sh
I was also not able to run this command:-

I don't know if there really is an answer on this web site, I have searched a lot in all kinds of forums but I don't find the answer, I want to install my drivers the best way possible, but there is an error when I try to install the video drivers in the terminal. The error is: "Distro Version entered incorrectly or not supported, use --listpkg to identify valid distro versions".
OK so I just got Ubuntu the other month or so. I'm running the 11.04 version currently and trying to install drivers for a Nvidia graphics card (it's my brother's computer and he currently cannot find the number of the card right now). I read that, to install the proper drivers for gaming, I would need to go into "Additional Drivers" and choose them myself.
