My computer on a private LAN, which connects to a router, which is connected to the internet.
Their computer is behind a belkin wireless router. I have turned the firewall and AV off for the computer that I am trying to connect to. I have also gone into the router settings and opened port 5900. (to clarify : the setting seems to be a mapping of her LAN IP to the port number.
I'm having trouble getting port forwarding to work and don't know what to try next. I am testing it using NetCat for windows.
I have one machine (A) connecting directly to the internet, and another (B) connecting to the internet through a sky router.
If I listen for a connection on A, and connect to it with B, it works.
My son has a problem not getting a cosistant wifi signal in his bedroom so he uses another router wired to the gateway. The problem I have is that when I connect to the gateway his router issues me my IP address and I cannot access the internet.
So at first I was unable to get my Belkin Surf & Share usb to install on my computer, so then I plugged my computer directly into my router and my computer won't acknowledge any connection. I know very little about how to use ubuntu, please help me.
We have a small office network with DSL and a Netgear WNR-2000 wireless router acting as a DHCP server. There are nine devices connected to the router, wirelessly and wired. Whenever a Mac computer tries to connect, it's unsuccessful until we restart the router.
Hello I am unable to connect to the Internet using a wired connection. I was able to use the wired network yesterday. But I had problems with the flash player, so had to reinstall Ubuntu again. I am able to connect to Internet using wireless connection. But I need to connect to the wired connection. I am using Ubuntu 10.
Here's a really strange situation. I subscribed to AT&T DSl a year ago and was running 9.3, switched to 11.0, all worked - up until now. Now the connection is out as much as is on. The only support you can get from AT&T is their dopey call centers - and Linux is NOT supported, so I had to boot into XP.
hello all, i have a problem connecting to the internet at home, but have no problem connecting to the internet in other places. My computer connect ot the router but does not receive a connection to the internet form the router. this happens both wireless and ethernet. at the same time everybody elses computers (using windows) connect to the internet in my home.
Hi, I'm relatively new to Linux and a bit embarassed to have to post what is possibly a really simple problem. I tried to setup a VPN connection to anonine using pptp, after trying to connect and failing I deleted the vpn connection. This seems to have interfered with my normal setup in that I no longer have access to the internet.
