SUSE 11.2 Problem - keyboard & mouse not responding at login

http://forums.opensuse.org – Hi all, I recently installed suse 11.2 on my system and during the install the keyboard (Microsoft internet keyboard PS/2) and mouse (Microsoft optical mouse USB with scroll wheel) worked perfectly, but once I reached the login screen they both became unusable. I also tried rebooting into failsafe mode but once reaching the login screen the same happened again, the only key that seems to work is the 'F Lock' key and the optical light appears on the mouse. can anyone help, thanks (Distributions)

On our SuSe 11.1 PC keyboard and mouse are no more responding although it did work properly until yesterday. We shut down the computer yesterday evening and today they do not work anymore.

I installed 12.04 using WUBI on a working W7 64bit system.

both KB and mouse work perfect during the BIOS boot, and on the bootmgr, I can select Windows 7 or Ubuntu to load.

Once I select Ubuntu, the KB and mouse seem to loose their power (light on the mouse and Numlock leds go off) After couple of seconds, the screen gets blurry.

Here's the issue. I'm installing Ubuntu on my bosses HP. LiveCD and install work just fine. After install, the mouse and keyboard just stop working. The keyboard works up to the login screen. at that point not even the numlock/capslock work.

Its a HP Pavilion pj508aa-aba a710n with a HP/Asus Kelut 2.02 MB and a HP keyboard and mouse (from a different system).

I installed Fedora 17 on my laptop, where I use a keyboard (Logitech K120) and mouse (generic USB mouse) connected to a hub.

Then I noticed that neither the keyboard nor the mouse worked.

Hi, I just installed ubuntu 11.10 alongside with windows 7, I have the both operativesystems on two different partitions. But when I start up ubuntu my ordinary mouse and keyboard doesnt work, it's a razer naga mouse and a Microsoft sidewinder keyboard. If I unplug those and plugin an old mouse and keyboard I can log in to then unplug those and use my primary instead.

I don't get this. They're just USB devices on an Gigabyte AM3+ motherboard, but Ubuntu 10.04 supports them fine while 12.04/12.10 is completely unusable. They're not even powered on past the text boot menu of the lubuntu discs. Is this because the keyboard and mouse are likely USB 1.1? Actually, the keyboard is an Acer that came with my mother's new machine a couple months ago.

As the title suggests ...

To cut a long story short, tried to install ATI graphics, screwed things up on next boot, spent a week trying to fix the purple screen where the login should be, and finally did by removing everything fglrx.

That's all great and I'm getting closer; now when I boot, I get to the login screen, but the keyboard and mouse are totally unresponsive.

I am writing this from another working system

I have been using f17 for some time now and this is the first time with this problem. f17 is current with updates

I can boot the system and login but after login the keyboard no longer works.

I switched on my laptop this morning (HP Compaq nc6320) as usual and tried to log in, only to find that neither trackpad nor keyboard were working! If I reboot into a recovery mode shell, the keyboard works until I move on to normal boot. If I boot from an Ubuntu install disk (run from CD), both trackpad and keyboard work. Everything seemed OK last night when I shut down.
