Is there some way to tell my phone (an HTC Incredible) to ignore updates to apps that I don't use? For instance, the Farcebook app keeps updating, and I never use it. I don't Farcebook on my computer, why would I want it on my phone?
I have not rooted my phone, but I suppose I could. It got a long crack down the screen one night while it was just sitting on my desk, so the warranty is shot.
Let's say I open the Update Manager, and my package list is a couple of days old, or I do apt-get upgrade without doing an apt-get update first, what is the result of this?
If there have been updates since I last did a 'check' in the Update Manager, do I not get the latest version? Or do I simply not get updates on packages which had not updates at the time of my last check?
I've been checking for updates manually through the settings option but it keeps telling me the phone is up to date. Does anybody else have this problem. On Android 2.3.6. The system version I have is 55.13.22.MB865.ATT.en.US. I am currently overseas but anytime an OTA update has been released I've received it before while being out here.
Hey guys! My HTC Desire HD is not updating its software. I haven't been able to for a long time and I still haven't been able to find a way. Please help!
When I check for updates under Settings>About Phone, it just tells me no updates are available. My phone is still on Android Version 2.2.
What am I supposed to do?? Anything will help!
PS.
on my Samsung gt-s6102, the system updates are not downloading. The system detects new updates and offer to download it, but it only flashes the download window a few times (about 10 times or so) then tells me to try again, or use kies. Kies however does not offer updating my phone.
I have rooted my phone, and some files are linked on the sdcard 2nd ext2 partition.
I just bought a Droid 3 phone and I am using it as a pre paid phone through Page Plus. I have noticed that my System version is 5.6.890 and from I can tell there is a newer version. When I go to check updates it says there is none. Can I not update this phone since I am using it as a prepaid phone and not through Verizon?
This is just a friendly public service announcement...
As the much-awaited official Jelly Bean update appears to finally be upon us, please be aware of the following information...
Since I recently answered a question regarding OTA updates on a rooted phone, please see additional info here:

Here are the highlights:
1.
Starting a couple days ago, the update manager appears to be failing. The menubar has that warning triangle, telling me that updates havent happened for 35 days, and when I open Update Manager, it tells me there are no updates to install . If I click on the "check" button,
I get the error window about failng to reach repositories, full error message follows below.
I never received the OTA for ICS when it came out.
