I just received a system update. was rooted from oden with the near official IC . i did the update and was expecting it to fail from the root but it went through. It rebooted and when it came back up it finished installing 2 of 2. I saw my norton scanning a NASCAR app but think i missed one before that .
What i am wondering is what the update changed ?
I have a sprint galaxy s2 - sph-d710.
I tried to root my phone using StockCWM-EL26.tar.md5 as per this page
HTML Code:

and am stuck on the yellow triangle after reboot.
please help
thanks
Hello everybody!
I'm new to XDA and new to rooting. I read the forum about rooting the korean version of lgog but to no avail, I can't seem to root mine with 10k fw. Do I need to downgrade it to 10i to root it? I got the 10k fw out of the box (didn't upgrade it).
Follow Up question:
I just want to flash the stock ROM JB available, do I really need to root first before I flash?
do i have to have ff18 ics on phone already before i oneclick root before i root my phone using this
SPH-D710.FF18_CL663858_ROOTED-oc-sfx

[root@SERVER ~] ls -la /dev/vg/root
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 17 2012-10-28 10:29 /dev/vg/root -> ../mapper/vg-root

Why should or shouldn't I root. I already know bricking the phone is a possibility, voiding the warranty another. So people what's all the fuss about rooting. Why is it so popular.
