From what I understand I need to run Odin with the Tegrak Kernel and it will do everything for me. Is it as simple as that? After doing this will I be able to overclock and use apps that require root? Is there anything I should do before I root and what are the risks using this procedure to root? Will I need to make a backup of my phone before I root? If so, what is the simplest way to backup my phone and restore it later. What can I do in case this brick (General)

Ok, so, I'm slightly late to the party, but got here finally :)

The 3rd post in that topic that talks about rooting is for 9505 http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...25&postcount=3

and it also talks about recoveries, but how do I root

I have tried this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...6&postcount=49 and this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...78&postcount=1 and it will get half way through then just stop with the android laying on his back with the red exclamation point.

I'm just curious as to who all is having this problem and want to know what the problem is so when jellybean rolls out we won't have

My machine crashed (powered down unexpectedly) recently with an 8GB thumb drive attached to it. When it came back up I was trying to delete a file in one of the folders, but it kept telling me that the filesystem on the device was read only. Googling lead me to the third post on this thread:
