I recently rooted my phone and I am very new to this. I have a samsung galaxy s3. I rooted my phone just to install titanium backup and freeze/remove bloatware. Now my phone says it has an update. I know I shouldn't use the standard update, and that I need to update radios(?) and the rom.
Looking for a little help for a friend of mine. Her E4GT is not rooted and yesterday she accepted the OTA update without an SD card present. I don't know what exactly happened but the aftermath resulted in her phone being stuck on the first splash screen.
I traded my Galaxy Note 2 for this Nexus 4 on Craigslist. I asked the guy if the phone had ever been rooted and he told me no. The phone looked brand new and the charger was still in the plastic. So today I get the notification of the update and when I go to install Clockworkmod comes up and the update fails. So obviously the guy lied to me.
With all this OTA talk, I've been getting many questions about accepting and OTA while stock rooted.
IF you are stock rooted, you can't get an OTA update because you most likely have a custom recovery installed (Clockworkmod).
To accept this OTA, you will need to install the STOCK recovery.
I woke up this morning with an OTA update on my P769 USA version. I have not ever rooted my phone yet and have been waiting it out for some roms to come out and clockwork mod. My phone has the 10e firmware that can be hacked to unlock the boot loader. My problem is my phone downloaded a new OTA update, 10g.
