I just updated my Android version to 4.3. However, Google Talk is replaced by Hangouts automatically. I don't like Hangouts, since I cannot see friends who are online/offline. I wish to revert to Google Talk. When I try to uninstall Hangouts, there is no uninstall option for me.
I am using a Samsung S4 smartphone. Does anyone know how to revert to Google Talk?
Updated: Google says they’ve apparently resolved the problem. We’ll update if we hear more about its cause.
A number of sources, including tipsters reporting directly to TechCrunch, as well as Google support forum posters and individuals on Twitter are reporting that Google’s Hangouts service is having some trouble routing instant messages correctly.
Following up on their release of the new KitKat keyboard to Google Play earlier today, Google has also made the new Hangouts v2 available. The big news with this update is the incorporation of SMS/MMS messaging into the Hangouts platform.
yesterday a new version of Hangouts was released and I updated mine (version 1.2.016).
I went to the Play Store on my wifes Note and hangouts didn't show as an updateable item so I uninstalled Hangout updates and went back to the store. It showed Hangouts dated Sept 25th so I figured it would update properly. it didn't.
Some new screenshots suggest support for SMS messaging is close to being included in Google’s Hangouts messaging platform. Support for SMS messaging was one of the glaring omissions when the new Hangouts app was released earlier this year, though Google has always maintained their plan was to unify messaging protocols including SMS.
I hope this isn't a rehash of arguments or posts from yesteryear, but I didn't see much on the search. A little back story on my mobile usage scenario:
-Verizon iPhone (work)
-Sprint Galaxy S3 (personal phone)
-Google Voice sprint integration enabled on personal phone
-Google Hangouts installed on both devices
