I recently acquired an LSI 2108 chip based RAID card.
It's current F/W configuration is, as an IBM m5015 MEGA-RAID SAS/SATA controller with a write back BBU.
I have 2 virtual drives configured.
The first VD is two Samsung 840 EVO 500GB SSd's in a RAID-1, they have the Win-7x64 boot system on them.
The second VD is 5 WD-black 2 TB spinners in a RAID-5.
I have a SuperMicro Super Workstation 5036T-T server. I previously setup a mirror RAID (hardware) and installed MS SBS 2008 with no issues. It saw the RAID as one drive and installed. I pulled the two drives, installed two 200Gig SATA drives and setup a striped RAID. When I tried to install Ubuntu 13.10 64bit server version it detected the RAID drives and asked if I wanted to activate them.
Have my drives in Raid 0 and I cannot install saying that it can't install the boot loader. I tried making custom partitions and it's doing the same thing. Is there anything special I need to do to install this on a raid array?
This is not software raid, i have a SAS raid controller that is built into the MB
