I installed Lubuntu and noticed there were no video file thumbnails in the file manager, pcmanfm. I did some poking around and it looked like some people were saying because of some changes in Gnome 3, pcmanfm wasn't able to create video thumbnails anymore.
So, I installed nautalis, using it with the --no-desktop option, but it also wouldn't give me any video thumbnails.
I have strange problem with thumbnails in my Ubuntu machine.
I was using Ubuntu with Cinnamon 1.8 from stable ppa and it was good but then Cinnamon 2.0 came out with some broken packages uploaded to stable ppa nad things gone wrong...
Anyway after few updates Cinnamon started to work normaly except Nemo - there are no thumbnails at all, only icons.
Some week ago Nemo was update from 1.8.5-1 to 2.0.0-2, and after that Nemo could not create new video thumbnails.I downgrade Nemo to 1.8.5-1 (and gnome-desktop 1:3.10.1-1 to 1:3.8.4-1) and then video thumbnails work again. I have tried every new Nemo version since, but it's the same.I only use Openbox, no DE.
Gwenview is not showing video thumbnails since I've upgraded (via fresh install) to F17. I found an old bug report about it, but it's supposed to be fixed in the current version that ships with F17. Is anyone else seeing (or is that not seeing ..lol..) this problem?
Sigh. Stater r20111125 32-bit. So I've installed thunar-thumbnailers. And ffmpegthumbnailer. Thunar is not showing thumbnails for video files (flv, mp4, mov, 3g). I restarted the machine. Still no thumbnails. This applies to files on an external USB HDD. I copied one of the files to /tmp to check, but no thumbnail is shown even for a video file in /tmp.
I was running 12.10, which was a normal installation of Ubuntu. I then installed XFCE4 alongside it. In that configuration, Thunar could load all the thumbnails that Nautilus created, and it could also generate new thumbnails on brand-new files itself.
