Startup script (mount)

http://forums.fedoraforum.org – I'm planning to implement a startup script in order to mount some Windows Share folders while starting my computer at work. I have a few questions: 1) Where should I locate the script? I know I can probably place it anywhere, but I assume some "best practice" exist? Only my user should (be able to) execute it. 2) What should I do in order to execute the script automatically after login? 3) Any suggestions for how I can check whether I am connected to my workplace's ethernet or my home ethernet? I'm thinking about grep'ing on the output of ifconfig - but maybe some more elegant way exist? It is a DHCP network, and I won't have the same IP every time.
