Do you really want these things to start at boot, or do you want them to start when you log in? If you want them to be run at boot, read this: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Sy … process.3FIf you want to start something when you log in, refer to your DE's documentation, or use .xinitrc.

To specify I am talking about them separately, not openbox as the WM for gnome3.When I start openbox-session, openbox starts properly, but fails to start anything in ~/.config/openbox/autostart.
After new install, I installed kde and use startx to start kde successfully. After that, I do something that I dont remember and I reboot. I cannot start kde @@.Then find out by looking at older logs. How did you install kde?

grub has nothing to do with xorg so no, it won't work like this.It should be enough to boot into the console and fix whatever needs fixing.https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Runlevels
