How to get my computer use a proxy ON my computer, which connects to the school proxy ?
The reason i ask this, is because i need all programs on my computer, absolutely the whole system to go through the network, without having to use proxy authentication?

I recently updated to 12.10 after which i am unable to open secure pages (https://) include google, gmail and facebook. I have the same proxy setting as before which are only on http and ftp. When i set the proxy to none the secure pages start working but then the http pages stop working (which is expected).
I use wireless service of my school, and I got a problem use proxy to connect to Internet for a whole system.
I setup proxy for Firefox like this, and Firefox works!

I'm using my laptop at school and at home, however internet access to each requires different proxy settings. I searched for a way do do this, but I couldn't find a solution, short of manually setting it.

I have access to internet connection through an authenticated proxy server.
I got APT to work with this by changing wgetrc and other files.
Third party apps (such as thunderbird,empathy) that access the internet are not able to work with the network connection.
Any pointers on how I can get them to work with authenticated proxy connection would be much appreciated.

My users do not have permission to access facebook, but there are pages that they can access but contains facebook's plugins, a box appears asking for login authentication, do not want this box to appear, now I want to enter the site and the contents of facebook blocked. I use webmin to manage my squid proxy.
Using Ubuntu 13.04 I can't connect to my school network.
It is secured with WPA & WPA2 Enterprise and I have to enter my username and password school provided.
This does work on Windows 7, and it has worked with Xubuntu 12.10 in the past, but now it just won't connect.
