I need to restore my database to SQL server 2008. Currently we are having our database in SQL Server 2005 in one server. We need to take the back up of that database and move that database to SQL server 2008 in another server. I can find the steps to move 2008 to 2008 or 2008 to 2005. But i cant find any documents or guidelines to move 2005 to 2008. How i can i do this?
I'm hoping to restore a backup from SQL Server 2008 into a Sql Server 2005 instance. Is there a way to have Sql 2008 back up in a format that 2005 will understand?
I have 2 servers:
SQL Server 2005 w/ Reporting Services Configured
SQL Server 2008
I need to move the reporting services stuff from 2005 to 2008 so we can decommission the 2005 machine.
Can someone give me all the necessary steps to get things moved over?

I'm wondering if there is any software to test if a PC could support Windows Server 2008. I can read the Windows Server 2008 System Requirements in Microsoft web page, and according with that information, my PC statisfy it. But I would like to be sure before attempting to install.
I have the latest MS SQL 2008 R2 installed on Windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit. The SQL server process never surpasses 1.5GB in the task manager resulting in heavy disk usage. I have solve this problem before in a 2003/SQL 2005 32bit environment by enabling PAE and AWE. I was under the impression that switching to 64-bit for everything will solve the 4GB memory limit.
I has a very simple task.
I need to block access to removable media (CD, DVD, floppy, USB drives etc.) on a Windows 2008 R2 Terminal Server for users and allow it for admins.
I tried to enable the following policy in GPO:
User Configuration/Administrative Templates/System/Removable Storage Access
All Removable Storage classes: Deny all access = Enabled
But it did not work.
Hi,
Anyone can help me on how to list the file with spaces?
