Sprint has operated an old-school 4G (WiMax) network since 2008, but is now set to expand its new and constantly-growing 4G LTE network in the “coming months” in order to be more competitive with the likes of Verizon and AT&T.

Baltimore, MD
Gainesville, GA
Manhattan/Junction City, KS
Sedalia, MO
Along with the rollout of 4G LTE service, Sprint also announced upgrades to existing 3G service in Baltimore, Boston, and Washington, DC.
After a successful 4G LTE debut in Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio and Kansas City, Sprint today added an additional 15 cities to its 4G coverage portfolio. Despite being the first US carrier to offer a 4G service via WiMax 4 years ago, the country’s third largest network has been playing catchup with Verizon and more recently AT&T.
Well, if you’ve been thirsting for some G-Nex love on Sprint’s network, the wait might be shorter than you think. Thanks to our friends over at Phandroid, they’ve spotted some signage at one of the Sprint store locations for the up and coming Google experience device. Question is, will the device come with LTE?
The Sprint LG Optimus G is getting a nice upgrade to Jelly Bean with numerous reports of the update rolling out to owners. While it’s only been a little over three months since the phone’s release, Jelly Bean has been available on devices as early as July 2012.
I know a lot of Sprint customers are wondering when LTE is coming and more importantly, will it be any good? PC Mag was able to do an exclusive test in the Atlanta, Georgia area using an LG Viper and compared them to AT&T and Verizon.
They found Sprint’s network to be much faster than it’s curent WiMAX network, which isn’t shocking, but not as fast as AT&T and Verizon.
Hot on the heels of adding four additional cities to its 4G LTE network in late August and announcing their LTE rollout plans a few days ago, Sprint appears to be lighting up two more cities with its LTE service beginning this week in the Boston area, followed next week by Chicago.
