I have been interested in trying some different file managers lately, and I have installed spacefm. It seems fine, but I don't dislike Thunar either. The only thing that I am really missing in Thunar is tabs. I have read most of the spacefm posts on the forum, but they're mostly opinions as to whether they like spacefm or not. What I would like to know is specific

I use SpaceFM but not to it's fullest - I'm not as 'fluent' with things Linux as I would like to be.As seen here: my options are chock full!
Thanks, pidsley. I just remembered that SpaceFM is not in the repos. You have to download it and use either dpkg or gdebi to install it. I used gdebi to attempt the install under a Sid distro. How did you generate that pseudo screenshot of terminal activity?
I use SpaceFM as my primary file manager on Ubuntu. I typically open folder directly by keyboard shortcuts, so, e.g. Ctrl+Super+W opens my Work folder.
Specifically, I use execute the command spacefm -w /home/rasmus/Work/ by the above shortcut, with the -w ensuring that SpaceFM opens a new window.
However, this new window is not always open on top of the last active window on the workspace.
I have a number of external hard drives which I would like to access under Waldorf. However, neither Thunar nor PCManFM seem to have the appropriate permissions to access any of the drives:Many solutions to this issue have been proposed in the past at the arch forums and archbang forums, ubuntu forums and multiple times here. I'm a bit confused as to which advice to follow.Any thoughts?
First, check to see if you have gdebi installed. From terminal:aptitude show gdebiIf you don't have gdebi, then from terminal:sudo aptitude update
sudo aptitude -P install gdebiorsudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install gdebiNow, for SpaceFM...Download the last file in the list from the link you provided; spacefm_0.8.7-1_all.deb.Open terminalEnter sudo aptitude update or sudo apt-get up
