I got to the part where I'm supposed to partition Mint. I've got a 500GB hard drive, and I thought I'd give 300GB to LM--but I'm unclear about using ext2, 3 or 4. What about the swap file? Is that automatic?
Thanks,

Is Linux Mint 7 good enough to replace your current Windows installation?

When we last reviewed Linux Mint, it received high marks for usability and productivity. Does the new release also rate highly? Paul Ferrill takes it for a test drive to find out.

I have this one AVI file legally downloaded from Veoh, which, however, I cannot playback. If I try to play it back under Totem 2.26.5, (GStreamer 0.10.25), I can see the video, I get no obvious error messages, but I get no sound no matter what I set the volume to: other files I get sound.
Under Properties, I see for the Audio codec: Dolby Digital (AC-3).
Hi,
Im pretty new to Linux, but I know enough to run only Linux mint 8. (I hate windows)
But I just noticed yesterday, I have a 64 bit processor, and Im running 32 bit version.
The website says that its less stable (The 64 bit), but is it really worse? I find that my processor gets bogged down very easy in my 32 bit. (No freezes though, I love linux:) )
When I try to open my volume control I get this:
No volume control Gstreamer devices and/or plugins found
I am pretty new to Linux, have no idea what this means. Help please!
