I noticed that no sound is being played to my headphones. The laptop has a conexant sound card together with the sounds apps provided. But the thing is that I also noticed that now instead of one playback device - 2 are presented: speakers and headphones. And while speakers do play sound nicely - even test sound are not played through headphone output.
I have a new laptop, Gigabyte P25v2 and I cannot get sound over the speakers. I have spent 6-7 hours going over stuff I have googled and still can't get it to work. I at first thought the entire sound system was not working but one time turned the mic on by mistake and could see the sound bar pulsing with background noise and it would move with clapping or talking in the room.
I have an HP DV6-6154tx laptop and i recently installed Ubuntu 12.04 with dual boot on it.
The Problem is only two of my speakers are working and the sub-woofers also are not working. The result is extremely quiet sound from my laptop. Please help.
every once in a while (once every few minutes, mostly noticeable at night since its all quiet) i get a weird hissing noise from the speakers, anyone know what it may come from?if i unplug speakers the sound is not there anymore so i guess it has something to do with my laptop ;/

I have a laptop that is connected to my TV via HDMI and connected to a 3TB external harddrive. I use this laptop combo as a media center for the living room. However currently the sound comes both out of the TV and the laptop speakers. VLC's volume for example controls both the TV and the laptop speakers as well as the ubuntu's volume control.
