Hi
I've been baning my head against this problem for some days now. I have a new IMAC and I am running 11.2 on it. I just can't get the sound to work.
Here are some specs.

Hi all,
After upgrading from 12.04 to 12.10 I'm unable to play any audio on my laptop.
I tried following the guides and trouble shots that are sticky on this forum, but i'm having a hardtime even identifying the sound board i have!
Also, every little thing i do to fix one side, breaks another. that's never mentioned in the guides. :)
it's an Asus X202E (aka S200 series) laptop.
Updating Suse 11.1 to Kernel 2.6.27.48... and then updating alsa-driver-kmp (from multimedia:/audio:KMP/openSUSE_11.1_Update) completely broke my sound system.
Alsa is up-to-date from multimedia:/libs/openSUSE_11.1 and my sound chip is HDA_Intel on a Toshiba laptop. The system worked with all previous kernel and Alsa-KMP updates.
boot.msg gives the following:
Everything in alsamixer is maxed. What other things can I try?
My audio device is:
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 7 Series/C210 Series Chipset Family High Definition Audio Controller (rev 04)
I'm not sure if this is the right board or should be in laptop issues, feel free to move it to another area if necessary.I recently got a new laptop (Sony Vaio VPCSC41FM) and the internal mic doesn't show up in alsamixer but mic boost and capture both show up, but don't give me sound on the mic.$ lspci|grep Audio
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 6 Series/C200 Series Chipset F
Hello everyone,The problem is that I can't use my headphones in Windows, I just plugin my headphones and no sound comes from it. But when using Arch, it all works. I first installed Windows 7, and my headphone output was working perfectly fine.
