Hi all.I recently switched to Crunchbang (from Mint) and am having sound issues. My sound suddenly stops working - in a middle of mp3 listening, youtube or watching a movie. And restarting an application usually doesn't help. Sometimes it starts working again, sometimes not. Also, volume bar in top right corner of my desktop doesn't have any effect on the actual volume.
The other day my audio stopped working. When I opened up the sound manager built in UI none of my devices showed up. However, when I use the command line, I can see all of my devices. I opened up alsa in the command line and was able to change the volume of my devices. Currently the volume bar is locked at 0 volume.
My problem: sound has been working great for 2-3 months until 2 days ago, when I installed some recommended updates.
Recently installed 11.2x64 with KDE4.
Everything is working great (excellent release!) with the exception of sound.
The sound works well when only one app needs it, but sound only works for one app. If another program is open, it has no sound.
Some examples: - If I am listening to an .mp3 with VLC, I don't get sound in a movie in SMplayer.
I installed KDE over the holiday weekend, and sound was working perfectly across the board.
At some point between Sunday and today, sound stopped working with KDE. (with the odd exception of MP3's in amarok)
All non-KDE apps have perfectly working sound.
It doesn't appear to be kernel or Pulse Audio Related.
Hi,
I'm using Ubuntu 11.10 with Gnome Classic interface on my ThinkPad laptop. My sound card is a Intel 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller.
Now, while using ubuntu, the gnome mixer (gnome-sound-applet) disappears randomly and the volume up/down buttons on my pc stop working.
This morning, I was on my computer (watching YouTube videos and listening to music) Everything was fine. That update window came up, so I updated and restarted (it said I had to) But when I logged back in, sound on YouTube wasn't working.
OK so the thing is: how do I make my linux play 2 sounds in the same time ?For example: listening to music with rhythmbox while watching VLC doesn't work, one of them (the latter opened) doesn't reneder any sound. Now you may ask yourself why would anyone want that?Well, I don't, but you see, I'd like Pidgin to make some alert sound while I watch a movie, I often find myself wat
How do you maximize sound volume in Gnome Shell under Ubuntu 11.10?
I have a Macbook, and my sound and volume keys generally work, but even if I use the volume keys to set volume to 100%, the sound is very low. However, if I open the Sound dialog, the "Output Volume" slider goes up to 150%, which allows me to comfortably hear sound.
