Hello,
I have a large database with the following structure:
set of clustered names followed by a hard return and followed by a second set of clustered names and so on.
After many years of administration of Unix/Linux systems and using bash for many tasks i’ve discovered the command tac, the contrary of cat,
What this command do it’s to concatenate and print files in reverse order, it writes each file to standard output, last line first.
Hello,
I am writing an open-source stemmer in Java for Indic languages which admit a large number of suffixes.
The Java stemmer requires that each suffix string be sorted as per its length and that all strings of the same length are arranged in a single group, sorted alphabetically.
I want to find the last index of any character in the [abc] set in the abcabc string but the search should start from the end of the string:
" Returns the 0th index but I want the 3rd.
let a=match('abcabc', '[abc]')
I skimmed through Vim's "4. Builtin Functions" (:h functions) but the only method that looked promising, the reverse method, only operates on lists.
I've the following file:
1 2 3
1 4 5
1 6 7
2 3 5
5 2 1
and I want that the file be sorted for the second column but from the largest number (in this case 6) to the smallest. I've tried with
sort +1 -2 file.dat
but it gives me the inversed order.
The results should be:
1 6 7
1 4 5
2 3 5
5 2 1
1 2 3

Hello,
I have a large file in which data of names is sorted according to their homographs. The database has the following structure:Each set of homographs with their corresponding equivalents in Devanagari is separated out from the next set by a hard return. An example will make this clear:
