Chinese web site ePrice is reporting Sony will unveil the forthcoming Sony Xperia Z at CES 2013. The new Sony handset is quickly morphing into a device similar to LG’s Google Nexus 4 in that so many images and leaks are coming out, any official announcement is almost anti-climatic.
We’ve already seen Sony’s Xperia SL in the wild, but today the Japanese manufacturer has finally made the elusive smartphone official. An exact release date isn’t announced, though the device is now listed on the company’s official website as “coming soon”.
Sony’s rumored next flagship, the LT29i Hayabusa, was outed in a blurrycam photo yesterday, followed by the official announcement for the Xperia GX and SX. Now another leaked image has made its way stateside from China, but this time it’s for the Sony ST26i, a rumored 4″ qHD, 1GHz device. Unlike the GX or SX, this handset keeps the capacitive buttons.
Sony has announced a new Android handset dubbed as the Xperia VL exclusive to the Japanese market. The device is set to be launched before years end and will come with an LTE chip for fast speeds.
Following the company’s Xperia acro S release, Sony has announced the impending US availability of its budget-level Xperia Tipo and Xperia Tipo Dual handsets. Currently available in Europe, the smartphones both sport an 800MHz single-core Snapdragon CPU, 512MB of RAM, a 3.2-inch HVGA (480×320) display and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
Ah yes, the mysterious Sony Xperia J makes yet another appearance. After seeing a leak just a few days ago, Taiwanese website ePrice.com got their hands on additional shots of the device, giving us a better idea of it as a whole. Right off the bat, the screen looks to be typical of a standard budget or mid-range device coming in or around 4-inches, showing a decent-looking display.
It was back in January that we first got our hands on what was to be Sony’s first smartphone after parting ways with Ericsson – the Xperia S. Shortly after it’s unveiling at CES it was released in select European markets and until now hadn’t been available anywhere else (unless unlocked).
Boy oh boy it seems like every Android manufacturer is getting in on the creation of devices with 5-inch+ screens and Sony is no different. If you recall, we’d seen a user agent profile of an alleged Xperia C650X Odin smartphone, but now we have a nice image that gives us an idea of how this phone looks like.
The Sony Xperia ZL has been available for pre-order on Sony’s US web store for several weeks now, and finally received a price. At $720 for the HSPA+ version and $760 for the LTE version, it’s definitely at the higher end for an unlocked smartphone. As shown in our hands on, the Xperia ZL is no slouch.
