Sony Vaio - Sound not working 100%

https://bbs.archlinux.org – I installed arch linux on my brothers computer. I am using XFCE. The problem is, sound doesn't work right. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. It doesn't work more times than it does. Usually all he has to do is CTRL+ALT+BACKSPACE to get it fixed, but sometimes it doesn't fix it. I have not installed ANY sound drivers or anything. On the installation guide it said alsa works out of the box. It says he has an Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) HD Audio Controller. I decided to install alsa-firmware (thinking it might help), but it didn't do anything. Please hel (HowTos)

Hello

I have a Compaq CQ61-117TU laptop and I just installed Fedora 11 32-bit.

Sound: Not working at all (although devices are recognized) Video: 640x480 or 800x600 only. No 3D acceleration.

This is the output from sudo lspci:

After Installation I Installed first Pulseaudio, then ALSA, but still I have no sound. Arch is up to date. I checked sound in Mint, so it isn't hardware problem.Drivers seem to be ok, I also unmuted all channels in alsamixer. speaker-test doesn't produce any noise. I have no idea why it doesn't work.

Hello. I am having some problems with audio in my Ubuntu 9.04.

When I was in Ubuntu 8.10, the audio device didn't work properly, to silence the speakers and hear from earphone output, I had to silence every track manually and only leave the Surround active. It was a bit of an anoyance but I didn't care.

I'm having trouble getting sound working on a new install of Arch on an IBM Thinkpad R50e.

I'm not sure how to get my internal modem to work even where to start looking. I have created a mobile connection which uses asks for which country and service provider i am using. Not much detail except the number *99# and APN set to Internet.
