Something did change I believe. I think this may be related: https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/34862Read from post #2287 to #2294 and it should make sensehttps://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1261545
Marking this thread as solved as the original question has been answered. Also, tried out thermald and even with dolphin running and 2 virtual machines I didn't get above 90 c. Will stress test it more tomorrow with some compiles as well. We'll see how it holds up.
You're welcome. Happy to help. Something I implied a little but didn't mention (should have) is that makepkg by default (without the -s switch) does not do dependency resolution. That is why it is there as an additional option. Hope that explains a little better.
Sounds like you've already tried quite a bunch of different things. In the past I have had intermittent freezing problems due to composting / graphic issues. To run run a compositer like xcompmgr or similar? I would look there first and then at the graphics drivers maybe.
Sounds like a gui file manager issue as opposed to a DE one. So using "Gnome3" doesn't really give enough info. Assuming you are using nautilus is there not a right click and open with type menu? There is for thunar. If not I think there is a custom actions plugin on the nautilus wiki.
So we're not doing lnf awards anymore? It's most popular apps now? Also, how could it be of 2014; what happened to 2013? Anyways my vote for 2013 would have to go to speedcrunch calculator app for sure if that's not on there.
