I rebooted my VM and now I can't login. It gives me the following error:

OK tried logging into openbox gnome session and got an error , your session lasted 10 sec and ~/.xsession-errors file saysBeginning session setupaxj(my user name) being added to access control list16: exec: gnome-session: not found
Using Xubuntu 12.04.1 with the standard LightDM login screen, I'm offered the choice between two sessions at login. One is "Xubuntu session" and the other is "Xfce session" (I do not save sessions automatically at exit).
However I see almost no difference in operation or appearance between the two.

From where does LXDM find session entries?I looked at /etc/lxdm/Xsession, but its a little over my head to the point where I can't seem to isolate it, assuming I am correct in my assumption that it this file is responsible. for T's and G's, I recently tried out the "xfce session" as opposed to the default "xubuntu session," chosen from login screen.
However, now I can't change the default back to "xubuntu session"!
Someone please help this is a serious first world struggle!
I tried editing .dmrc in $HOME, but that didn't do anything.
