Hey, I'm experiencing exactly the same thing. I'm umounting devices via console and sometimes it's really slow. I have one NTFS USB device and as you said it's slow after something was copied on it.

So, I've just installed Arch Linux. I open terminal and execute:compiz --replace ccp &
emerald --replaceAnd it works, but I can't move the windows... AT ALL. Everything is like locked and I can't move it. Any solutions on how to fix this? It's starting to become a real bitch.
