Glad your experience was better than mine. Maybe I had a bad board.
I think moving/renaming the folder would be a more practical suggestion. Better yet, open ff from the console with -ProfileManager and create a new profile.
From what are you trying to chroot?
I also had a problem installing the extention pack. I think I ended up installing it through the command line, but I don't remember the details.
Size question:A != B
A - C = X
B - C = Y
X != YIOW, if you left any fixed amount off each disk, you'll still be in the same position if the disks are different sizes. I'd say just make sure all the partitions consist of the same number of sectors.
Sounds like a locale issue. Look into the relevant files ( /etc/locale.gen /etc/locale.conf ) and the locale command.
