Just a quick note on compiling qTractor as I ran into some difficulties and found it difficult to find the answers.
Problem:
dependancy problems for qTractor on Fedora 17
Solved by:
Adding the following dependencies:
# yum install gcc ladspa qt-devel jack-audio-connection-kit-devel alsa-lib-devel libsndfile
These dependencies solved the following errors:
"configure: error: ALSA lib
Everything worked fine in 11.10. Upgrading to 12.04 has introduced errors in starting jack??
Initially, I was using QJackctl and found that it was using /usr/bin/jackdmp for the server. This was in the setup>options page. I was getting an error along the lines of 'cannot start server err - file does not exist'.
Hi,
All new here and I need some help ;)
I am using jack together with brutefir to listen to music for a rather long time now on a dualcore atom machine. It handles up to eight channels without problems.
Now I want to kick the receiver out of my home-cinema setup and go for the brutefir way here as well. I just got a m-audio fasttrack ultra 8R, wich works out of the box with jack.

Jack Audio Problem:
"Could not open ALSA sequencer as a client.
I have an issue where my desktop has a damaged primary audio jack, and so I have to use one of the others repurposed as the primary. Windows Vista and 7 have this option available with relative ease with the Realtek sound manager(?), but I was curious if there was any way to repurpose one of the 4 other audio jacks on my motherboard to act as the primary audio out for Ubuntu.
After today's update i can't open qjackctl with the error :

Cannot connect to server socket err = No such file or directory
Cannot connect to server socket
jack server is not running or cannot be started
Registered event listener change listener: true

Hi all,
I'm trying to get my Edirol FA-101 (firewire audio interface) working in Linux. I just did a fresh install of Ubuntu Studio 12.04.1 (downloaded a couple of days ago.).
Basically, with the FA-101 connected and turned on, I start FFADO mixer, and it is recognized.
2 Windows popped up saying that "the JACK server couldn't be started" and "couldn't connect to Jack server as client." This is what was in the messages panel:
