I have a Trim-Slice Value using Ubuntu 11.04. It comes with a Ralink RT5370 802.11n WiFi dongle.
When I plug the dongle in, it does not 'just work'; ifconfig and iwconfig do not show the device, though lsusb does show the device listed:
phrogz@trimslice:~$ lsusb | grep Ralink
Bus 001 Device 004: ID 148f:5370 Ralink Technology, Corp.
I have been searching through the forums and looked at this SDB:ASUS WL-160N USB Wireless Adapter - openSUSE and I am still having problems getting my ralink rt2870 wireless adapter working.
Hi all,
I have two USB sticks one with Ralink RT5370 chip and the other with RT3572 chip. I want to make them work in the access point mode. Unfortunately the drivers from the Ralink site do not support the Access Point mode. I read somewhere that the compat wireless modules have the support for access point mode for the Ralink drivers. So I downloaded the latest compat wireless package.
I bought this USB Wireless N Adapter, and took the Linux driver from the installation disk provided.
I followed the instructions in the README file to build the driver. When it comes down to the "make" command, I get an error output.

Hi all! Recently got a ralink rt5370 wifi usb dongle. Well, seems the package in the repos doesn't provide the driver for this model. Thus... need ta sort something out... Heeeeeelp!

Thank you for your help.

As the title reads. My wireless adapter does not work when I boot from the Ubuntu 10.04 LiveCD.
The adapter in question... tricky.
I've just installed Debian Sid on my computer, for the beginning I used my Mac as modem with eth wire and everything went well.
I used the wire to download and install xfce4 and wicd, but I have a problem: I can't connect to wireless as the same..
I've modded /etc/network/interfaces now is
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback
The wlan0 is up but wicd give me this message:
No Wireless found.
