I think I have Alsa driver installed. Pulse not working may be I dont have it installed. Not sure If I can run Pulse and Alsa. I had to configure each application prior to work which use pulse.(SMplayer by default select pulse. I had to change that)
I know a little about these.
Hello,
having spent the last few days trying to solve the sound problems,
I have moved a step further, but still some help would be *higly*
appreciated.
I have a fresh installation of OpenSuse 11.2 32-bit. My soundcard
is Terratec EWX 24-96. The card is detected in Yast, and I can play
I set up Skype-no-pulse, tested it (without making a call) and everything seemed to work. That was about a month ago. About a week ago I wanted to use it, but it wouldn't launch. I also tried the Skype-pulse version, but that did the same. It would attempt to launch then fail. I was waiting for the systemd update, thinking maybe that would help. But I still have the same problem.
I am having a problem where the sound on flash objects other than YouTube videos are giving a strange distortion. It has a high pitched pulse sound every second or less that resembles skips on a record. I have no idea what the problem is or how to fix it. Does anyone have an idea what I could do to fix this?
I am running Xubuntu 11.10.
You don't need to reinstall the package.Pacman archives are just compressed tar, so it is easy to copy just that file by yourself. For examplemkdir /tmp/pulse
cd /tmp/pulse
tar xf /var/cache/pacman/pkg/pulse...
cp /tmp/pulse/etc/... /etc/...

My sound works fine, but apps are choosing pulse and alsa, I need to get a default sound, I got confused since the config files are not where the wiki says and thought I should ask for help.I think I need to make pulse default, just no idea how to do that and the config files seem to be missing.

Hi guys, I'm not sure im posting this in the right place or not. Im a world of warcraft player and i need to use Mangler in place of vent. I installed Mangler and one of its requirements was pulse-audio. I installed pulse-audio everything worked great except i couldn't get sound out of wow if i started mangler first and vice-versa. I then found a version of Mangler that worked with alsa.
Solved by myself:i removed pulseaudio, pulseaudio-alsa, kmix and veromix. Then i reinstalled and from terminal:rm -rf ~/.pulse*rm -rf /tmp/pulse*So it works all again! Sorry for the topic
