[SOLVED] Internet becomes extremely slow when using static ip!

http://ubuntuforums.org – Hello there, I am currently facing a weird problem, It's that the internet connection becomes extremely slow when using static IP instead of DHCP when Im connected through a cable! The local network seems okay with both, but differs when using the internet! I've ran a ping test and got the following results! using static IP Code: $ ping -c 3 google.com PING google.com (209.85.153.104) 56(84) bytes of data. 64 bytes from 209.85.153.104: icmp_seq=1 ttl=42 time=343 ms --- google.com ping statistics --- 3 packets transmitted, (HowTos)

live upgrade from 11.1 to 11.2 3 years 24 weeks ago

ok after pouring over the internet for the last three days i give up and im asking for help

i just did a live upgrade on my suse box taking it from 11.1 to 11.2 and fallowed all the steps in the doc it all went fine except after it was finished i can no longer access the internet

I am having a problem connecting to the internet:

In Konsole:

$ ping google.com ping: unknown host google.com

But

$ ping 173.194.75.94 PING 173.194.75.94 (173.194.75.94) 56(84) bytes of data. 64 bytes from 173.194.75.94: icmp_req=2 ttl=45 time=107ms etc.. ^c --- 173.194.75.94 ping statistics --- 5 packets transmitted, 5 received, 0% packet loss, time 4006ms rtt min/avg/max/mdev

Why is the ping command outputing different results for these two instances?

Hi! i have a annoying issue,

first i 'am using ubuntu jaunty on my laptop acer aspire 4530 second i have 2 networks:

network 1 is wireless and their ip is 192.168.1.12/24 this ip is assigned dinamically.

network 4 is wired and their ip is 192.168.4.56/24 is manually assigned.

Hello every body i ahve just installed fedora 11 kde edition and i used to use fedora 10 after finish installation i edit the connectons to connect to my network im in lan network but i connect my cable to an access point to free using my laptop anywhere :)

never experienced this problem before. Nothing on Google helped me.

When I run:

# Ping 127.0.0.1

Returns nothing. As if expecting an answer that never comes. Then press Ctr + C and returns:

--- 127.0.0.1 ping statistics --- 117 Transmitted packets, 0 received, 100% packet loss, time 116009ms
