^From what I can read in the thread, Wine does a better job, so I would probably just stick with Wine and the steam version.

Configure wine to use a virtual desktop - that will contain the window and keep this from occurring.

Pacman -Qi wine will tell you what version is installed. You could have an out of date mirror. Try reflector in [ community].
