http://forums.fedoraforum.org – hmmm. so I plugged in a TV with an HDMI cable and got video! awesome! but oh no, there's no sound! This is from a laptop with an ATI Radeon card built in. Analog audio works and plays out from the laptop's speakers. But selecting the HDMI card doesn't play audio out the TV speakers. I know the hardware is good, because it works in Ubuntu, and so linux can do it. But nothing I'm trying in Fedora 16 is working. When playing a video in VLC I go to TOOLS / PREFERENCES / AUDIO and choose ALSA audio output for (hw:0,0) and it plays on the laptop speakers, but when I choose the other two (HowTos)

Hi everyone, not sure where else to turn.I have a monitor that has built in speakers and a webcam (an asus, if wondering).I've tried everything to get audio working over HDMI (it is detected by alsa, but not pulse audio), and I can't raise the audio volume from alsamixer, and it is NOT muted. It is detected in paman as an INPUT device, not output device.

finally I've managed to get 'a display working' and in addition the displays looking exactly the way I want them!

Now another issue has arrived; my displays have built in speakers which work via audio 3.5mm stereo cable or HDMI digital input.

The HDMI digital input was working fine while I had Fedora 15 installed but now with the upgrade it is gone :(

I've bought a tv a few days ago, tried to connect my laptop via hdmi cable to it - worked perfectly, I just had to choose right audio device output as hdmi and it worked with no issues.

So I've tried to connect my desktop computer to the tv using hdmi cable - video works with no issues, but there's no sound.

I use a VAIO Laptop VPCEB14EN & have installed UBUNTU 10.04.2 Version.

When i play any AUDIO File,say Mp3 / Play a VIDEO ,it plays,but LAPTOP Speakers give almost NO Sound & on using EARPHONES,i get to hear a very Low Sound.

I have REALTEK HD AUDIO & HDMI DIGITAL AUDIO as shown in WINDOWS 7 DEVICE MANAGER

I have a laptop with an ati radeon 4200, on 12.04 everything worked fine, since upgrading to 12.10 I cannot get sound over the hdmi. When I switch to hdmi audio the video speeds up to about 2x. I can use the speakers in my laptop and watch video via hdmi with no problems.

Things I have tried: Various tutorials to install the amd/ati drivers, all of which resulted in low graphics mode...

I have a ATI Radeon 5450 graphics card and it is connected to the monitor using a VGA cable. It is also connected to an external LCD tv using HDMI cable. When I play a movie in Totem player in the monitor, it plays fine. If I change audio>settings>output to Manhattan HDMI Audio to direct the output to the HDMI cable, the video in Totem player plays at double the original speed!

I'm having problems trying to get my HDMI audio output to work correctly. By default, with or without and external monitor connected, the audio is heard from my notebook speakers (or from the headphones, when I plug them in).

i am having an sony E series laptop.i have an HDMI port .at this stage ,i have tested my sound card , which provides audio out on my laptop i.e i could hear songs .my laptop has two sound cards amd 5450 and an intel-hda(alsamixer shows that as s/pdif) .

I just bought a asus z77 lx motherboard with an i5-3570k. Everything is running so fast and smooth, but the audio only detects and hdmi device.

When I'm playing a video or something that uses sound, the volume bar goes up, but nothing comes out of my speakers (attached through the rear audio port....that much should be obvious though since the only hardware this detects is the hdmi audio out.
