Sorry for the long question, but the situation/desire is quite complex. Here is my setup: I have a laptop which I carry around everywhere and I have a desktop sitting at home, connected to the internet through a router using NAT.

My objective here is to create an SSH server which I can use for the purpose of file storage/access as well as using it as a proxy server.
I try to use ssh to log in to a remote host.
This works for my Ubuntu desktop, however, it fails from my Fedora 14 laptop.
The failure means after I type ssh username@host and pressed Enter, nothing else shows on my screen.
And using ping on the desktop works fine, however nothing returned on my laptop.
I have been playing around with X11 forwarding the past few hours and so far I've managed to forward my desktop pc's X Server to my laptop, using X11VNC as server and X2VNC as client.
