This is a weird one.
After a lot of early trouble I finally got wireless working fine on my laptop setup, I've solved all the other problems with ubuntu too. It was all going fine.
Now though, I turn it on and wireless just doesn't work.
I click on networks up at the top towards the right and enable wireless isn't ticked and its greyed out so I cannot tick it.
I have had Crunchbang Statler installed for a few weeks now, with wireless internet working out of the box without any problem (despite the wireless card on this laptop being an old Broadcom BCM4309). However, today I turned on the laptop and it cannot find or connect to any wireless network.
I'm having issues setting up Wireless for Ubuntu 12.04. I have my wireless card plugged in and from my knowledge, Ubuntu can read it, but, I can't enable wireless.
Whenever I try and turn off Airplane Mode or when I'm in the menu for Networking at the top of the screen and click "Enable Wireless", my computer freezes.
Anyone know what may be causing this issue?
Ok so the basic issue here is this: My wireless has not once enabled through many environments.
Wubi install: Enable wireless greyed out
Live cd: greyed out
Partition alongside win7: greyed out.
I installed all software updates, checked additional drivers, installed the latest driver for RTL8111/8168B.
rfkill list shows phy0 and phy1.
Phy0 has a hardblock on. everything else is unblocked.
I am trying to install wireless network drivers but I couldn't find any driver for wireless under network drivers. I just installed ubuntu 9.10 today but my wireless is not there. I am able to connect through wire but not wireless.
I just installed Ubuntu on my External HD Via USB... It work as a normal.... Installed all the updates, Upgraded to Version 10.10... After some days of using it.. I just temporarily get offline for some reasons... so, to conserve battery i just turned off the wireless switch... after working, i booted up to ubuntu again. At first i thought that it was only my wireless switch is off.
I recently installed 10.10 Maverick on a lenovo S12, and I've been having problems with the wireless connection. First I installed the Broadcom B43 driver. This driver seems to work well except upon resume, I'm no longer connected, and wireless is disabled, and the 'enable wireless' is grayed out and I can't seem to find a way to enable it besides a restart.
Hi I just deleted my windows XP and installed Ubuntu 9.10 earlier this morning. I used wired connection to get drivers for my wireless network card.
When I did lspci, the very last line states:
Network Controller: Broadcom Coporation BCM4311 902.11b/g WLAN(rev 01)
My internet stopped working although the switch was on and the connection seemed solid. So I disabled wireless to re-enable it (from ubuntu system not switch). And when I tried to enable it again when the switch is on, ubuntu does not give the option to eneble it, it is greyed out. Thanks in advance for any help.
