I have a http://domain/ . The LAMP installation guide on the ubuntu site is incredibly easy to follow and I have only experienced my issue this one time...
when I navigate to domain/phpmyadmin I'm getting my sites homepage. My .htaccess file has ErrorDocument 404 / which is redirecting it. I'm not sure what I should check to fix this.
I am trying to install the Pointwise grid generation software on Arch Linux and I am having a lot of problems. The installer has worked on every other computer I have (Ubuntu, RHEL, Debian, etc) but not on Arch.I don't know a lot about the way the installation works, but the install file is freely available at http://www.pointwise.com/support/dload_pw.shtml.
Im trying to install Shatter using the .sh file downloaded from the Humble Indie Bundle site. During the installation process, I get an error saying that Im missing libxft.so.2. The package libxft2 is installed, but there is no libxft.so.2 file in /usr/lib. I tried ignoring the issue and continuing with the installation, but it didnt complete. Any ideas?
Using 64 bit by the way....
I purchased a WiFi adapter online, and it came with an installation CD with drivers. I installed it just fine on Windows, and am now trying on Ubuntu 10.10. The CD came with the driver files for Linux as well, but I have no idea why they aren't working - my guess is that I don't properly understand what to do with them.
I have uploaded the contents of the folder which came with the CD here.
For Debian, I'd like to block packages from installation. For instance, I'd like puppet and superusers to be unable to install ruby1.8, even if a package with ruby1.8 in its dependency list is requested for installation: the puppet run would fail and so too would
# apt-get install ruby1.8
Is what I want possible? If so, what do I do?
