OK so I moved my autorun script out of the rc.lua and rewrote it into bash. As the file .xprofile gets read by LXDM (I use it) and .profile gets read by LXDM and the bash login shell, I source my script file from both files and launch graphical applications from .xprofile and command line applications (i.e. mpd) from .profile.
Hello,I turned into systemd booting. For convinience I choose to lxdm to log in. But my habit was the Archlinux look and I don't know which way should start xdm with that particular look&feel. What should be the equivalent to be launch by systemctl ?

@tomegun - Thank you for the suggestion. It appears as though the problem lies with lxdm unfortunately. When I login with gdm, the camera is identified just fine without root permissions. I would like to open a bug with lxdm upstream, but am not totally sure what to say. Can you help me with the description?

Why not just get rid of GDM and try LightDM, LXDM, or Slim instead?

I'm using lxdm with xfce. One System uses .xinitrc and create an logind session then working. Two other Systems doesn't and without an logind session I hasn't permission to suspend or mount devices. But I don't find the reason for this.
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/LXDM#SessionlistJust add a "suspend.desktop" to that folder with an exec line to run your preferred suspend command.

I ended up adding /sbin/reboot to /etc/lxdm/PreReboot, and /sbin/poweroff to /etc/lxdm/PreShutdown.It's more of a workaround than a solution, but it seems like the easiest and most effective solution so far. No problems with it yet.
