Let's say I open the Update Manager, and my package list is a couple of days old, or I do apt-get upgrade without doing an apt-get update first, what is the result of this?
If there have been updates since I last did a 'check' in the Update Manager, do I not get the latest version? Or do I simply not get updates on packages which had not updates at the time of my last check?
When I try to check if there are any updates for my Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3, not only does it say:
Status
Software is up to date
Status last checked on
...and there is NO Last Checked Date.....:-\
But when I do "Check New", it tries to connect for while then says:
Service Unavailable
To check for system updates, go to Settings > About device when service is availa
Hi,
I want to revert my suse to state before last updates. I forget about rule "If there is everything ok, don't touch anything, don't apply any updates". I'm very frustrated if one day I've got something working, next day it stops work. Yesterday I installed some updates and today my desktop effects (KDE 4.4.4) stop works.
Hello everyone,
In my class I am building a computer as a project. After installing most of the hardware, I installed ubuntu 11.10 as my OS. I installed it without any updates or third party software.
Hello, I'm Spanish, I do not speak good English, I will try to explain the problem:
I have ubuntu 11.10 and now has left me the following error in the Update Manager, you can install all updates:
I tried to go to System Settings ----> Software Sources ---> updates, to see how I have configured the updates and I think I have the right ...
I'm trying to update to 12.10 or 12.04 from 11.10, but every time I check for updates or upgrades, nothing comes up. I've messed with the update manager settings from the Updates tab in Software Sources so I'm not sure how to proceed frmo here. Can anyone help me out? :(
I'm using Ubuntu 12.04. I am new at Ubuntu. The system has given me a message that says "you must check updates manually" ... "You can configure this behavior in Software Sources on the Updates tab".
But I can't find Software Sources.
Hello,Gnome 3 has an GUI interface for package managers, that are shown in the menu as 'Software Update'. In its preferences there's an option to check automatically for updates, but I don't seem to get it working... how do I enable it?

I am unable to do a manual check for software update on my S3 anymore. I go to Settings/About Device/Software Update/Check Now. Then I get the following message:
"Service unavailable. To check for system updates, go to Settings>About device when service is available."
I turned off the phone. Cleared the RAM. But I always get the same message.
