The Khronos Group today released the final WebGL 1.0 specification to enable hardware-accelerated 3D graphics in HTML5 Web browsers without the need for plug-ins. WebGL defines a JavaScript binding to OpenGL ES 2.0 to allow rich 3D graphics within a browser on any platform supporting the industry-standard OpenGL or OpenGL ES graphics APIs.
Adobe announced a final version of its Flash Player 10.2, touting new features such as support for full-screen mode on multiple monitors. The software now gains accelerated 1080p video from more GPUs (graphical processing units), including those built into AMD's recently announced Fusion E-Series and C-Series chips, according to the company....

While the Mesa software stack has made some steps towards supporting OpenGL 3.x, this free software library used by open-source graphics drivers is still a ways from supporting this industry graphics API thats years old and has already been surpassed by OpenGL 4.x. There hasn't been too much major progress lately on GL3 support, but some think it could be achieved next year.
As expected, AMD used a morning press conference in Taipei to announce its tablet-specific Z-Series processors -- the first of which is the dual-core Z-01, with a 5.9-Watt TDP. The chipmaker also reviewed branding plans for its A-Series & Llano& processor for notebooks, shipping this month, and previewed downsized APUs (accelerated processing units) it plans to release later this year....
Released several weeks late due to malware attacks on kernel.org in August, the Linux 3.1 kernel is out now, with a variety of enhancements to performance, virtualization, and power management. It also includes support for near field communication (NFC), the OpenRISC open source CPU, Nintendo's Wii controller, and 3D acceleration with Nvidia GEForce graphics processor units (GPUs)....
