Edit: It occurs to me I was too lazy with asking this question. For the past several months, I have been getting a system error that does not "break" the system but indicates software properties has timed out. I cannot get software sources to run as an application. sources.list opens and seems fine.
I am running Ubuntu 12.04 dual boot on an Vista Dell Inspiron 1501 laptop. Everything was running smoothly until I tried to install Cheese through the Software Center. After the attempted installation of Cheese, the app would not load and any attempt to open Software Center to load would cause it to crash.
Hello, i have this problem with ubuntu 11.10's software center that i was hoping you could help me with.
Every time i try to download something from the software center it gives me this error message
There seems to be a programming error in aptdaemon, the software that allows you to install/remove software and to perform other package management related tasks.
i really hope that you could help
I had tried to install a program using software center and got an apport-gtk error.
It gave me a crash apport-gtk type error.
I just tried to reproduce the error doing an uninstall and re-install and it is working in ubuntu software center, so I cant reproduce the error.
I had got the screen where says report error - relaunch - close.
Is there an install log or report to look at?
Every time I click on ubuntu software center it says Crash and this program has closed unexpectedly.
When I try to report the problem it sends and then says unexcutable path. Also, there are no details to that error.
Go to Ubuntu Software Center.
Edit > Software Sources
Change the server from the default value to some other value.
Click Close. You'd need to enter your password.
Run sudo apt-get update to check.
Enable the universe repo:
open the Software center.
Click on edit and then software sources to open the software sources window.
i had some problem with ubuntu software center so i uninstalled it then reinstalled
using following codes
sudo apt-get install software-center
i was getting the message as follows.......
Package software-center is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source
E: Package 'software-cent
I don't know what happened, but one day my computer had some sort of a system error and could no longer update itself.
The software center will not open, it will begin to initialize and then a message pops up saying theres a system error and needs to shut down the software center. Then another box pops up after I go to report it saying it was unable to identify source or package name.
