Software that can detect type of CD / DVD

http://ubuntuforums.org – Hi, I wonder if there is any software that can detect the exact type of optical discs ie whether it is a CD or DVD. Then what type it is ie CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD-RW. I know this sounds a bit stupid and the media has written on it as to what type it is, but I would love to use this software as there are times when I get DVDs with no label on it. Thanks a lot. (Hardware)

Hello, I've very weird problem. I can't type right upper most alphabet on keyboard (ie "P" or "З" in russian). If I type "P", it shows "O". I've tried other keyboards like swiftkey 3 , iTap keyboard but it's the same. can't type the alphabet "P". I've also tried full wipe and flashing again. formatting SD card.

I would like to configure the terminal type by detecting it. For example when I am connecting to a Solaris box with PuTTY, the $TERM variable is set to vt100. I would like to negotiate this and when the terminal emulator is PuTTY to set $TERM to xterm.

I've noticed that at ^E PuTTY answers back with PuTTY.

Ubuntu 12.04, Gnome Classic, Home built pc, AMD 2-core, 16GB RAM.

When I start Firefox and then Software Manager, one of the CPUs goes to 100%, then settles down. But, if I type a letter in the Software Mgr's Search box, one of the CPUs will go back up to 100%, and stays around 98, 99, and 100%. The pc freezes up. Then I can't type a 2nd letter. I have a question about type 1 and type 2 hypervisors. Type 1 runs on the bare metal, and then the end operating systems are installed on top. This seems to me like the most logical way to build a virtualized environment.

But there's type 2 where a base OS has to be installed first, then the hypervisor, then the end operating systems needed.
