I've installed VLC and smplayer, and audio plays fine but video is slowed down and jerky. This is happening with all forms of video (avi, mkv) and in all video players. Is there something additional I need to install? I figured vlc and smplayer would install the required files.
SMPlayer is a free open source media player, with built-in codecs, that can play virtually all video and audio formats. It doesn't need any external codecs. SMPlayer can also play, search and download Youtube™ videos. It uses the award-winning MPlayer as playback engine which is capable of playing almost all known video and audio formats.
I cannot tell if it started after one of recent updates, as I do not play YouTube videos on SMPlayer every day. It has been several days since I noticed it.

Doesn't matter the player.. tried SMPlayer and VLC. After opening numerous video files, the players only play audio. Video will play in Chromium and Firefox, just not in video players. I'd watch a bunch of trailers I downloaded, and after say 10 or so, just get audio. I must say I'm vexed. I'd even need a solution, just an idea of what is the issue.
