http://askubuntu.com – I upgraded to Ubuntu 12.04, and something is making my browsing experience slow. Here is more information: 1) I am using a shared wireless internet access, through a Netgear router. The speed test on a Windows gives 3 Mbps, when shared. I am also able to download torrents, on Ubuntu at good speeds. So, I think it's a problem only with browsing. I am using Chromium. 2) ping to the router gives an average time of 2ms. But, a ping to youtube gives an average time of 1000 ms. 3) I have installed the additional Broadcom STA Wireless Driver 4) Here is what lspci gives: and, new users are not (HowTos)

I've used all browsers (chromium, firefox...) but browsing is very slow.

For example it takes over 20 seconds to load my facebook page. But when I am downloading files, the average downloadspeed is 2 mb/s.

I tested my internet speed at (speedtest.net) and it shows 49 Mbps.

1. I checked channel, no one use same channel. 2. I changed Wi-Fi anten to better place 3. I disabled IPV6 4.

I'm using and Inspiron N5030 with Ubuntu 12.04.

I'm connected to the internet via WiFi, but when I connect via ethernet the problem persists. Download speeds are not effected. For the past month web pages were loading slowly, and this morning they're not loading at all. Yesterday I made my IP static to fix the problem but it helped very little.

I have recently bought a HP Envy DV7-7201 which had Windows 8 on it. I installed Ubuntu 12.04 alongside it and everything was fine at home. I could access the internet through my wireless router (RTA10235WE) using Ubuntu.

I am visiting family for the holidays who have a Vodafone EasyBox wireless router. Windows 8 connects to the router fine.

I am looking into a weird problem for some of the users (including me!) on my network.

Symptoms: When connected to wireless internet browsing fails. Trying to visit, for example, google.com via IE or Chrome will timeout and fail.

During this time, other services remain active. The connection never actually drops out.

Netgear WNDR3400 router properly configured.

Windows laptops using wireless G and N are considerably faster than mine.

12.04 LTS, all restricted drivers and all up to date.

50Mbps wired and 9-21 Mbps wireless on Ubuntu.

Thinkpad t410, ubuntu 10.04.01 64 bit, can not access internet suddenly by wireless router(Netgear WGR612) today. I can get ip address from rounter, and can ping 192.168.1.1, but can not access http://192.168.1.1, telnet 192.168.1.1 80 showed me connection refused error, the weired thing is my another windows xp laptop can access internet through the same wireless router. Andbody can help me?

I am having troubles with my wireless connection to my Verizon MI424WR router.  I have used both wicd and networkmanager and both can connect but I get very slow connection speeds (~25 KB/s download) and am occasionally losing packets when I ping sites.  I have previously connected to other routers without any issue, so I believe the issue to be with the connection to the router.  W
