I've setup a server which I've connected to multiple PCs in my workplace. Sadly, data transfer speeds are at max 3 MB/sec per connection which works out slow for file transfers, especially when transferring large files. I'm using Windows filesharing and the server is a Windows Server 2008 (2 Ghz CPU, 1 GB RAM) and the client PCs mostly running Windows 7.
I am currently using a Server 2008 R2 box with IIS 7.5. I have IIS FTP+SSL setup and working properly with AD accounts. My issue lies in upload speeds. On a previous unix host FTP transfers were quick both with large files, and small files in any quantity.
I am currently attempting to transfer over 1 million files from one server to another. Using wget, it seems to be extremely slow, probably because it starts a new transfer after the previous one has been completed.
Question: Is there a faster non-blocking (asynchronous) way to do the transfer?
Hey everyone, I've got an issue with files transferring very slowly over a wired 100Mb network; only when the action is initiated by my Xubuntu machine.
I have a Samba server running on an OpenVZ VPS with a public IP. I also have a PPTP server running on the same server. I connect to it from a remote Windows PPTP client. I have everything working except network browsing. I can connect and see file shares on the Samba server using explorer and typing \\10.10.0.1.
Hi all
I did try to search the forums, but was unable to find any help on this issue.
I can easily transfer small files from my Windows 8 pc via USB cable on the MTP protocol to my samsung galaxy s3.
Hello ,
I have a smb share on F17 x64 PC , which serves quite well for my home network over 1GB LAN connection. On Win PCs and other devices I can connect it without any problems.
Lately I have installed F17 on my own PC and tried to access the samba share on the fedora box, I have seen very slow transfer speeds while accessing my files.
I am trying to troubleshoot my home lan because of slow file transfer speed. I have 4 machines that all run ubuntu 12.04 and all experience similar transfer speeds on my network. I transfer a file to a pc sitting 2 feet away at about 3 MB/sec (Samba, nfs). 1GB network card, router supports 1 GB speeds, switch supports 200mb, full duplex on all machines.
Wireless LAN with a very slow transfer (rsync, scp) between the computers on that local network. Max. speed at 1.5 MByte/s. The router is D-Link DIR-615, with firmware DD-WRT v24-sp2 (06/14/11) std. The computers on the network are all with Xubuntu 11.10. Any idea how to make the transfer between them faster?
